The CMS School Options Lottery is open online until _________. Students not currently attending CMS must be enrolled by _________ to to participate in the first School Options Lottery and apply for magnet, career and technical education programs or other school options.
New student enrollment is for families interested in the Pre-k magnet Montessori programs and students who will be new to CMS for the 2016-2017 school year. Families who plan to send their child to the assigned home school do not have to be registered by ________ but are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible. Children must be five years old on or before Aug. 31, 2016 to be considered for kindergarten. To apply for a Pre-k Montessori program, the child must be four years old on or before Aug. 31, 2016. There have been recent changes in the documents required to enroll students in CMS. Families must provide two documents to show proof of residency. There are two categories of acceptable documents and parents must submit one document from each category. Click here for a complete list of required documents.
North Carolina law also requires parents or guardians to complete a Safe Schools Enrollment Declaration. The declaration states whether the student is under suspension or expulsion from any public or private school and if the student has been convicted of a felony. In addition to these forms, parents must also provide proof of birth and legal name and a copy of the student's current immunization record. New-student enrollment forms are available in English or Spanish at any CMS school, learning community office or the Smith Family Center.
